When Teng heard that there were "creepy little ants colonized in [a friend's] backyard," he headed to suburban Lukut, outside Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. While shooting some 100 photographs over the space of about an hour, Teng picked up a branch and dropped a smaller ant into a group of larger ones. "The bigger ants started to stand up," he said. "For what reason, I don't know."

Recent Awards

Malaysia International Harmonica Festival Photography Contest 2007- Best of show.

Harmonica World Sdn Bhd guided the "460 People Largest Harmonica Performance" in conjunction with 46th Anniversary of National Day on 30 Aug 2003. It was entered in the Malaysia Book of Records. This event group-up all harmonica lovers which included a 6 years old and a 89 years old senior citizen. It also consisted of Chinese, Malay, Indian and other races.

In conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2007 and the 50th Anniversary of Independence, IHC is a harmonica (music) carnival beyond boundaries, putting people from indigenous background together and spread the message of peace and harmony.

54th Singapore International Photography Award 2007 - Honourable Mention Experimental Imaging.

The coveted Singapore International Photography Award
shall be conferred to the participant who accumulated
the most number of points from the various sections in
one Salon. In case of a tie, the exhibitor who won more
awards shall be declared the recipient. Participants are

The Photographer

Teng Wei dabbled in a variety of artistic endeavours before finding his niche as a photographer. His unique vision caught the attention of Asian Geographic in 2002 and since then he has gone behind the lens for a myriad of publications including Asian Media Journal, Let’s Travel, Jalan-Jalan and Jasmine as well as undertaking breakthrough editorials for clients such as Canon Lens Catalogue and Air Asia 3 Sixty in-flight magazine.

From bucolic shoots of lush landscapes in remote villages to the richly emotive tapestries of architecture across the urban hubs of Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Seoul and Beijing, Teng Wei has forged a distinctive approach that has made him the lifestyle photographer of choice across the region. His inventive spirit seems best released in experiential primer works where he captures the light and life of the natural world he holds so dear.

Presently a Leica celebrated photographer in Malaysia, his work has extended to international fashion, gourmet food, sports, interior design and other commercial projects.
